Awana Times Newsletter (Winter 2008)
“…that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe
in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
For with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and
with the mouth he confesses resulting in Salvation.” Romans
10:9-10
FROM THE COMMANDERS:
The start of a new year is often the start of new resolutions. I need to lose weight, or exercise more or spend more time with my family, etc. All of these things are good, of course, and are fine to pursue. The problem that most people have is sticking to their resolutions. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul gives us a wonderful promise that we can depend upon. The Bible says that “if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” We are a new creation if we accept God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Jesus wants us to place our trust in Him and repent of our sins. The Bible says that he is faithful and will forgive our sins – He does the work. We become a new creation spiritually! Now that is a new year’s resolution worth doing! We hope that everyone has a happy and blessed new year!

LEADER SPOTLIGHT:
Our
Leader Spotlight is on Kathleen Tubbs! Kathleen is currently working
as a secretary in the Cubbies club. She has been in this position
for several years and does a great job! She first wanted to work in
Awana because she likes the teaching aspect of Awana and wanted to
serve on Wednesday nights. She loves interacting with parents and
other leaders who love the Lord and are committed to learning God’s
Word. She is the mother of two (Steven, a Cubbie – 4 years old and
Amanda – 2 ½ years old) and is EXPECTING TWINS! You can help
Kathleen and Daniel (her husband who also works in Cubbies) by
picking names for their expected twins. We know that one will be a
boy and the other a girl! We appreciate Kathleen’s faithfulness to
the Awana ministry and we wish her the best with the new additions!
